Type One Climbs

Climbing aincient volcanic sea cliffs. On Zuma Beach in Malibu sits a rocky point of breccia tuff. Volcanic in origin, this outcropping was the famous setting for the ending scene in the original Planet of the Apes, where the Statue of Liberty ruins were half-buried in the sand.
At this site, there's toprope climbing for everyone, all levels, from advanced technical all the way to intro beginner. A great place to learn how to rappel, and how to build "Sport Anchors"
Plus, there's the VIEWS! Nothing comes close to a sunset climb with the sun dipping below the horizon on the Pacific.

This trip is available for bookings year-round.  (except when wet)

Private trips or groups up to 6 people.

What to Bring:

Bring a small backpack (about 10-15 litres in size)
Remember to bring with you all the supplies you’ll need for the day including medications, low treats, backup meter, lunch, snacks and water (1 litre is the usual but perhaps 2 litres in the summertime)

It’s an easy hike in from our parking area.

Flip-flops are fine since were in beach sand, but we may be walking on rough beach rocks so bring a pair of shoes as well.

There’s restrooms at the parking area.

Since we will be exposed to the elements:
Sun protection, and wind protection are the main things to consider (layers are the way to go)
In the winter it can get chilly, so a beanie and puffy will be great additions.
The summertime can get toasty out there in the sun.
For summer trips, I’d add a wide brimmed hat, sunscreen, lip balm, sun hoodie
Evening trips have spectacular light, so a camera is a must during evening trips.

Included:

If you have your own climbing gear, please feel free to bring it.
